The Tobacco Prevention Office is available to provide an informational in-service for your staff. There is also an on-line tobacco education training available for professions requiring continuing education credits at no cost.

SWAT
YOUTH PREVENTION To prevent young people from using tobacco, Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT) serves as an advocacy program to empower youth to stand up against the manipulative marketing tactics by the tobacco industry. SWAT advocates from local middle and high schools are available to host tobacco-prevention projects and presentations for your agency. SWAT advocates are charged to get the word out for a tobacco-free generation. The SWAT program is actively recruiting youth who will be attending a Seminole County middle or high school. The Tobacco Free Partnership of Seminole County (TFPSC) provides leadership on community issues related to tobacco and assists in improving the health of Seminole County residents, and all Floridians, by reducing tobacco use, preventing the initiation of tobacco use among youth, reducing exposure to second hand smoke, educating the public on all issues as they relate to tobacco, and advocating for positive reform
The 2010-2011 Tobacco Control Policy Focus Areas are the following:
- Policy to Control the Location Number, and Density of Tobacco Retailer Outlets
- Policy to Increase the Number of Tobacco Compliance Checks by Enforcement Agencies
- Policy to Restrict the Sale of Candy Flavored Tobacco Products not covered by FDA
- Policy Prohibiting/Limiting Tobacco Industry Advertising-Retail Outlets
- Policy to Implement Comprehensive Tobacco Free Policies in K-12 Schools
- Policy to Create Tobacco-Free Multi-Unit Dwelling
