HIV Testing and Counseling Services

 

Testing Services

We provide both anonymous and confidential HIV testing at the Seminole County Health Department in Sanford.

  • In anonymous testing, a barcode and your date of birth are used as identifiers. Your name is never recorded on any paperwork or test.
  • In confidential testing your name and date of birth will appear on your test and information sheet. Confidential testing requires that you return with a picture ID to pick up test result.

Testing Fee

  • There is a $20 fee for HIV testing.

Our Staff

A trained and certified HIV Counselor will provide testing and counseling services to you. We are bilingual in English and Spanish.

How to test?

  • We also accept walk-in at the following times:
    • Monday 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm
    • Tuesday & Thursday 8:00 am – 11:00 am
    • Wednesday (Results Only) 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm
    • Friday 8:00 am – 11:00 am & 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm
  • The testing procedure will take approximately 30-45 minutes to fill out paperwork, to discuss risks, ways to reduce those risks, and to draw blood.
    • Blood work is sent to a state lab.
    • Results come back in 3 weeks from the original appointment date.
    • Results are only given in person.

If a Test is Positive

Your counselor will discuss options with you. He/she will provide you with referrals for services if you test positive.

  • Free male/female condoms.
  • Useful information about STD’s, safe sex, and HIV.
  • Educational pamphlets and material.

Directions to the Test Center

Enter the health department through the front entrance and ask the person at the information desk for directions to Community Health.
