The Health Education Program provides health related information and services to the Seminole County community.  We offer technical assistance and education to individuals and groups in order to promote and improve the health and safety of our community.

Focus Area

Chronic Disease Prevention

We promote the health of our community by addressing three main focus areas, based on our community needs and the People 2010 objectives:

  • Increasing awareness about healthier nutrition choices
  • Increasing physical activity opportunities
  • Heart disease and stroke prevention

Community Health Initiatives

Our program, together with local and state partners, is involved in a variety of health initiatives and health education campaigns which focus on a variety of health issues throughout the year, such as Step Up Florida! and Get Healthy Florida!, among others.

Tobacco Prevention and Smoke Cessation Program

Through coalitions and community organizations, our tobacco program targets the following objectives:

  • Prevent initiation of tobacco use
  • Reduce tobacco consumption
  • Protect citizens from exposure to secondhand smoke
